With your ConnectED account, you can:

ConnectED presents information on your computer screen in a uniform Work Area that includes the Banner, Menu bar, and Context-specific Pages.
ConnectED may display some information in a pop-up window, or may open another browser window or tab.
The top portion of your screen is the Banner, which displays at all times (Figure 1).

The System Links provide quick access to common functions, and may include:

Each button accesses a major ConnectED function, displays relevant submenus, and opens the associated tools, work areas, and data resources.

We've created this online Guide to help you learn just what you need, when you need it.

The majority of this Guide provides Web-accessible step-by-step instructions for ConnectED functions. Use the Table of Contents, Index, or Search Box to find what you need.
This Guide uses familiar point-and-click Web technologies in an easy-to-use interface.
This Guide uses certain conventions uniformly to assist clarity and ease of use.
Keywords and names of buttons, links, icons, pages and windows are capitalized and appear in boldface type, for example:
Keywords appear in the Index.
Most actions you take are as simple as:
Use your computer’s mouse to hover, point, and click on ConnectED screens as you would any Web page.
Cautions alert you to actions that may be irreversible or have broad impact.
Read cautions carefully before taking an action.
Click the arrow to see just the information you want for a specific task. Click again to close.
All examples and screen images depict system functionality at the time of writing.
Click the arrow to expand text.This is a good way to display short definitions or tips. Click again to close.
Unless otherwise indicated, table and figure references in the text precede the table or figure.
Headings, notes, captions, and variable information appear in bold, san serif font.
Key words appear in bold font.
Click on hyperlinks to jump to a specific location or topic. Click to go to the top of this page.
Icons (simple images) provide easy navigation and appear on ConnectED screens and throughout this text.
Some images display as thumbnails. Click the image to expand; click again to shrink image.
Some images have highlighted sections. Hover you mouse pointer over a highlighted area for more information.

ConnectED displays information in Web pages, browser windows, and browser tabs. In each instance, ConnectED and this Guide name each ConnectED page so that you will always know where you are in the system.
At times, settings in your local browser may determine whether certain information displays in a new browser window or tab.
ConnectED often presents related or frequently accessed information in discrete screen locations, or panels.
When appropriate, instructions indicate where to look on the screen, for example:
Page names are capitalized and appear in boldface type, for example:
ConnectED displays your Lesson Plan.
Working in ConnectED may require taking a series of steps. Follow all steps in order to complete a process.
Sequential steps are numbered, for example:
Single steps are unnumbered and indicated by a square bullet, for example:
Sometimes you can choose what you want to do. Alternative steps are separated by OR, for example:

Your Web Help provides quick access to instructions using familiar, point-and-click Web technology.
By default, the Web Help browser provides (1) a Navigation panel, (2) Tool bar, and (3) Content display area (Figure 4).

The Navigation panel appears on the left and provides access to the Table of Contents, Index, Search, Glossary, and Favorites.
Click the selected Title bar in the Navigation panel to access the desired function (Figure 5).

When you open Web Help, the Table of Contents displays by default.
To display the Table of Contents at any time, in the Navigation panel:
The Table of Contents displays in the Navigation panel (Figure 7).

Click the Table-of-Contents icon on the Tool bar (Figure 6, Show me!)

You can search or browse the Index to find topics of interest.
To display the Index at any time, in the Navigation panel:
The Index displays in the Navigation panel (Figure 9).
OR
Click the Index icon on the Tool bar (Figure 8, Show me!)
OR
Use the Scroll bar to browse the Index.

You can search the Web Help and save Favorite searches.
To display the Search box at any time, in the Navigation panel:
The Search box displays at the top of the Navigation panel.
OR
Click the Search icon on the Tool bar (Figure 10, Show me!)
Web Help returns a ranked list of topics that match the search term (Figure 11).
Web Help opens the selected topic and highlights the matching search terms (Figure 11).

The Glossary provides brief definitions for key terms.
To display the Glossary at any time, in the Navigation panel:
Web Help displays a list of Glossary terms (Figure 14).

Click the Glossary icon on the Tool bar (Figure 13, Show me!)

You can mark a Topic or a Search term as a Favorite for easy access later.
NOTE: Topics appearing in the Table of Context can be Favorites.
To view Favorite at any time, in the Navigation panel:
Web Help displays a list of Favorite Searches and Topics (Figure 18).

Click the Favorites icon on the Tool bar (Figure 17, Show me!)
